Terms and Conditions
Please read these terms before booking.
By completing your purchase, you confirm that you have
read and accepted them.
1. Your booking
Your place is secured once we have received the required deposit or full payment and sent your booking confirmation.
The person making the booking must be at least 18 years old and is responsible for providing accurate information. When booking for two people, the lead guest must ensure the second guest receives and accepts these terms.
2. Your 48-hour cancellation period
You may cancel your booking for any reason within 48 hours of purchase and receive a full refund.
Your cancellation must be sent in writing by replying to your booking confirmation email within 48 hours of the original booking time.
After this period, the cancellation terms below will apply.
3. Deposits and final payment
A deposit of £150 per guest is required to reserve a place. For a private double room booked for two guests, the deposit is £300.
The remaining balance must be paid no later than eight weeks before the retreat:
-
Spring retreat: 19 February 2027
-
Autumn retreat: 20 August 2027
If you book after the relevant balance deadline, the full retreat price is payable when booking.
We will contact you if a payment is missed. If it remains unpaid after seven days, we may treat the booking as cancelled and apply the cancellation terms below.
4. If you cancel after 48 hours
Please tell us in writing as soon as possible if you need to cancel.
The maximum cancellation charges are:
-
More than eight weeks before the retreat: £150 per guest
-
Between eight and four weeks before the retreat: up to 50% of the total booking price
-
Less than four weeks before the retreat: up to 100% of the total booking price
Any amount retained will reflect the losses and reasonable costs caused by the cancellation. We will take reasonable steps to resell your place. If it is successfully resold, we will refund any amount retained beyond our actual losses and reasonable administration costs.
We strongly recommend arranging suitable travel insurance as soon as you book.
5. Transferring your place
If you cannot attend, you may ask to transfer your place to another suitable guest. Transfers require our prior written approval, and the replacement guest must accept these terms and complete any required health and dietary information.
Any transfer charge will be limited to the reasonable costs caused by making the change.
6. If we cancel the retreat
We reserve the right to cancel a retreat if circumstances beyond our reasonable control make it impossible to proceed, or if the minimum number of guests required for the retreat is not reached.
If we cancel, we will offer you a transfer to another Tawelu retreat or a full refund of all payments made to us. We will not be responsible for separate travel, insurance or other personal costs, except where the law requires otherwise.
We will aim to provide at least 21 days’ notice if cancellation is due to insufficient bookings.
7. Changes to the programme
The published programme is a guide and may change due to weather, teacher availability or circumstances beyond our control.
We may substitute a teacher, workshop or activity with a reasonably comparable alternative. If a significant change materially alters the retreat, we will explain the options available to you.
8. Accommodation
Your booking is for the room type shown on your confirmation. Individual cottages, bedrooms and room locations are allocated by Tawelu.
Guests booking a shared twin room alone will be paired with another retreat guest. We cannot guarantee compatibility between guests, although we will allocate rooms thoughtfully.
9. Health and participation
You are responsible for deciding whether the retreat and its activities are suitable for you. Please seek medical advice before attending if you have any concerns about your health, pregnancy, an injury or a medical condition.
You must tell us and the relevant teacher about any condition, allergy, injury or access requirement that may affect your participation.
All activities are optional. Please listen to your body and stop if you feel unwell or uncomfortable.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
10. Food and allergies
Please provide complete and accurate information about dietary requirements and allergies before the retreat.
We will make reasonable efforts to accommodate requirements agreed in advance. However, food is prepared in kitchens where allergens may be present, and we cannot guarantee a completely allergen-free environment.
11. Walks and independent activities
Guided walks included within the retreat will begin from Tawelu and participation is optional. Guests are responsible for bringing suitable clothing and footwear and following the guidance provided.
Visits to lakes, beaches and other local attractions are not included in the retreat programme unless expressly stated.
Any wild swimming, off-site walking or other activity undertaken during free time is arranged and undertaken independently by the guest. Tawelu does not organise, supervise or provide transport for these activities.
12. Guest behaviour and damage
Guests are expected to behave respectfully towards other guests, staff, teachers, neighbours and the property.
We may ask a guest to leave if their behaviour is unsafe, unlawful, seriously disruptive or threatening. No refund will be given where removal is reasonably necessary because of the guest’s conduct.
Guests may be responsible for the reasonable cost of repairing damage they deliberately or negligently cause.
13. Personal belongings
Guests are responsible for their own belongings during the retreat. Please do not bring unnecessary valuables.
We are not responsible for loss or damage unless it results from our negligence or another liability that cannot legally be excluded.
14. Photography
We may invite guests to appear in photographs or video during the retreat, but participation is optional. We will ask for separate consent before using identifiable images for marketing.
You may withdraw that consent for future use by contacting us, although this may not affect material already published.
15. Complaints
If you experience a problem during the retreat, please tell us as soon as possible so that we have an opportunity to help.
Any complaint that cannot be resolved during your stay should be submitted in writing within 14 days after the retreat ends.
